Concrete Repair & Replacement
Fix damaged concrete before small problems turn into costly replacements.

When to Repair vs Replace
Not every crack or damaged section needs a full replacement. In many cases, we can repair your existing concrete and save you thousands of dollars. The key is catching problems early before they spread or get worse. Small cracks, surface spalling, and minor settling can often be fixed with targeted repairs that extend the life of your concrete by years or even decades. At FH Fort Eisenhower Concrete, we'll give you an honest assessment and recommend the most cost-effective solution for your situation.
Generally, repairs work well when the damage is isolated to small areas and the underlying structure is still sound. Hairline cracks, surface chips, and sections that have settled slightly can be addressed without tearing out the entire slab. However, if your concrete has major structural cracks, extensive settling, or widespread deterioration, replacement might be your best option. We look at factors like the age of the concrete, the extent of damage, and whether the base and drainage are adequate. If the foundation is failing, repairing the surface won't solve the problem.
In Fort Eisenhower's climate, where we deal with clay soil, humidity, and temperature swings, concrete issues are common. Tree roots, poor drainage, and ground movement can all cause problems over time. We've seen it all, and we know what can be fixed and what needs to be replaced. During our free assessment, we'll walk you through your options, explain the pros and cons of each approach, and give you a transparent estimate. Our goal is to help you make the right decision for your budget and your property.
Signs You Need Concrete Repair
- Hairline or small cracks less than a quarter inch wide
- Surface spalling or flaking from freeze-thaw cycles
- Minor settling creating uneven sections or trip hazards
- Discoloration or staining from rust, oil, or weathering
- Worn or damaged expansion joints
- Isolated areas of damage surrounded by solid concrete
- Concrete that's structurally sound but cosmetically flawed
Common Repair Methods
We use a variety of repair techniques depending on the type and severity of damage. Each method has its place, and we choose the approach that gives you the best long-term results. Here's what we offer:
Crack Filling and Sealing
For hairline cracks and minor surface cracks, we clean out the crack, apply a bonding agent, and fill it with a flexible polyurethane or epoxy filler. This prevents water from getting in and stops the crack from expanding. The filler is color-matched as closely as possible to blend with your existing concrete. For larger cracks, we may use a routing and sealing method, where we widen the crack slightly to create a reservoir for the filler. This provides a stronger, more durable repair that lasts for years.
Concrete Resurfacing
If your concrete surface is worn, stained, or has minor damage across a large area, resurfacing might be the answer. We apply a thin overlay of new concrete or polymer-modified coating that covers the old surface and gives you a fresh, new look. Resurfacing works well for driveways, patios, and walkways where the base is solid but the surface has seen better days. We can add color, texture, or decorative finishes during resurfacing to completely transform the appearance.
Mudjacking and Slab Lifting
When sections of your concrete have sunk or settled, creating uneven surfaces or trip hazards, we can often lift them back into place. Traditional mudjacking pumps a mixture of cement, sand, and other materials under the slab to raise it. This is a cost-effective way to level concrete without replacing it. For a more modern approach, we also offer polyurethane foam injection, which is lighter, sets faster, and provides excellent long-term stability. Both methods work well for sidewalks, driveways, and patios that have settled due to soil erosion or compaction.
Partial Replacement and Patching
Sometimes the best approach is to cut out and replace severely damaged sections while leaving the rest of the slab intact. We saw cut around the damaged area, remove the old concrete, prepare the base, and pour new concrete to match the existing surface. This gives you a permanent fix in the problem area without the expense of replacing the entire slab. We take care to match the finish and color as closely as possible, though new concrete will look different until it weathers. If you're planning additional work like a new patio installation, we can coordinate both projects for a seamless result.
Why Timely Repairs Matter
Putting off concrete repairs rarely saves money. Small problems have a way of turning into big ones, especially in Fort Eisenhower's climate. Water is concrete's biggest enemy, and once it gets into cracks, it can freeze in winter, expand, and make the crack bigger. Over repeated freeze-thaw cycles, a hairline crack can become a major structural issue. Water also washes away the base material under the slab, leading to settling and voids that cause more cracking.
Uneven concrete creates safety hazards. Raised edges and sunken sections are tripping hazards, especially for kids, elderly visitors, or anyone walking after dark. If someone gets hurt on your property, you could be liable. Trip hazards also hurt your home's curb appeal and make it harder to sell if you decide to move. Buyers notice cracked, uneven concrete, and they'll either ask for a price reduction or walk away from the deal.
Early repairs are almost always cheaper than waiting. A small crack that costs a few hundred dollars to fill now might require a full slab replacement costing thousands if you ignore it. Timely maintenance also protects your investment in landscaping, drainage systems, and other improvements. Water from cracked concrete can flow toward your foundation, cause erosion, or damage nearby structures. Taking care of repairs quickly prevents these secondary problems and keeps your property in good shape.
We offer free assessments to help you understand what you're dealing with. We'll inspect your concrete, explain what's causing the damage, and recommend the most cost-effective solution. Whether it's a simple crack repair or a more extensive project, we'll give you a detailed estimate with no pressure and no surprises. Our goal is to help you maintain your property and avoid costly emergency repairs down the road.
